UPCYCLED ART - Lightning Sculpture
Design as an Approach to Greater Sustainability in Product Development.
As part of my BHS diploma project, I created a light sculpture that demonstrates the potential of upcycling in product design. The starting point was glass milk bottles, which at the time were still used as single-use packaging in Austria.
The work combines aesthetic form development with functional material application: the modular nature and transparency of the bottles inspired an abstract luminous structure. The gracefully curved wooden frame serves as a display platform, highlighting both the aesthetic and conceptual possibilities of upcycling. Individual bottles can be replaced at any time, ensuring the longevity of the object.
